Details of Cruises

Day 1: Ushuaia

Check in between 10:00 and 5:00 p.m. at Avenida San Martín 409. Boarding at 6:00 p.m. Welcome toast and introduction of the Australis Captain and crew. Subsequently, the ship will set sail towards the extreme South. Through the mythical Beagle Channel and the Strait of Magellan, you will tour Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego

Day 2: Cape Horn - Wulaia Bay

We will sail through the Murray Channel and Nassau Bay arriving at Cape Horn National Park, where we will disembark if weather conditions allow it. The mythical Cape Horn was discovered in 1616 and is an almost vertical promontory 425 meters high. It is known as “the End of the World” and was declared a World Biosphere Reserve in 2005.
In the afternoon we will disembark in Wulaia Bay, a historical site that was one of the largest settlements of the natives. Yámanas canoeists. Charles Darwin, English naturalist, landed here in 1833 during his voyage aboard the HMS Beagle. This place offers a visual spectacle of great beauty due to its vegetation and geography. We will reach a viewpoint, walking through the Magellanic forest where lengas, coigües, cinnamon trees and ferns grow, among other species.

Day 3: Pía Glacier - Garibaldi Glacier

In the morning we will navigate the Northwest arm of the Beagle Channel to enter and disembark in the Pía fjord. We will take an excursion to the viewpoint from where you can see the glacier of the same name, whose main tongue extends from the top of the mountain range to the sea.
During the afternoon we will enter the Garibaldi Fjord, to make a hike through the cold Patagonian jungle, climbing to the base of a waterfall of glacial origin. From this point we can appreciate an impressive landscape. For those who remain on board, the Captain will head towards the Garibaldi glacier to appreciate the panoramic view from the outer decks.

Day 4: Seno Agostini – Águila Glacier – Cóndor Glacier

In the morning we will navigate the Cockburn Channel to enter the Agostini Sound, where it will be possible to appreciate the glaciers that descend from the center of the Darwin mountain range, some of them reaching the sea. During the morning, we will disembark in Zodiac boats to take a gentle walk around a lagoon formed by the melting of the Águila glacier, until which we will come face to face. In the afternoon we will sail in Zodiacs boats to get closer to the Cóndor Glacier. We will learn about the formation of glaciers and their influence on the abrupt geography of the Fuegian channels.

Day 5: Magdalena Island* – Punta Arenas

First thing in the morning we will disembark on Magdalena Island, if weather conditions permit, an obligatory stop for the supply of former navigators and discoverers. During our walk to the lighthouse we will be able to see an immense colony of Magellanic penguins.
In September and April, this excursion is replaced by a landing on Isla Marta, where you can see South American sea lions from the Zodiac boats. . Finally you reach Punta Arenas, disembarking at 11:30 hrs.
