The most amazing train in the world, reaching the clouds at 4,200 feet in a distance of 434 km ( return trip) .

It is one of the three world's highest railway , which runs through vertiginous mountains of the Andes between landscapes. Part of the city of Salta, passes through the Valle de Lerma , enters the Quebrada del Toro and finally reaches La Puna .

Called Train to the Clouds , because of its high altitude , clouds are often seen under bridges and around slopes .

The number of spirals , viaducts , tunnels and other windings that runs the train because the author of the project , the American engineer Richard Maury , He took into account the principle of adhesion of train wheels and tracks the laws of physics , discarding the funicular system commonly used for that the train can reach the expected heights. Do not use gears , not even for the steepest parts of the climb, because the tracks are arranged in a peculiar way running through a system of zigzags and spirals.

The train leaves the station General Belgrano , in the city of Salta, 1,187 meters above sea level , and ends at the viaduct.

Unforgettable trip, a unique experience to enjoy with your family and friends reaching 4200 metres above sea level. I recommend to book the tickets before getting to Salta. even though it´s a long day trip (you have to get to the train station at around 6.30 am and get back to the city at 9pm), you dont get tired at all!!! the guides are friendly and tell passengers about the train, stories about the different stations you go through and the scenery is unbelieable!!!
