Details of Salar De Uyuni Day Trip

The tour begins in the Uyuni, with the transfer from the Airport, the bus station or the selected hotel, as preferred by the passenger.

On the way to the great salar, we will visit the train cemetery, where we will find vestiges and old trains of what used to be the railway line that conected Uyuni and Antofagasta. We continue to the small town of Colchani, where we will visit a small craft salt processing plant. Then, we can participate in a visit to the exclusive Palacio de Sal hotel, the first hotel built entirely of salt.

Lunch will be served in the middle of the Great Salar.

Continuing with our trip, we will arrive at the salt flats, to an area where the water gushes from the subsoil creating small lagoons at one end of the salar. We will also be able to observe and learn the salt extraction process. The next stop will be a Incahuasi Island, known as Isla Pescado (fish island), where you can observe the famous giant Cactus.

We will head north to the slopes of the Thunupa volcano to visit Pucara Ayque where we will observe the pre-Columbian fort and the mummies of the place, and then return to Uyuni and observe the dazzling sunset on the banks of the salar.

The tour ends with the return to Uyuni.
