Details of Day Tours

Having picked everyone up from their hotels at 2:30pm, we’ll head over to the Avenida 9 de Julio and the neighborhood of Recoleta where we’ll learn about the life of Eva Perón in our comfortable, air-conditioned minivan. After an introduction to Perón’s story, we’ll arrive at Recoleta Cemetery and spend half an hour looking round. This guided tour will show us the mausoleums belonging to some of the most important people in Argentine history. These include those of Marcelo T. de Alvear, president from 1922 to 1928, and Raúl Alfonsín, the first democratically-elected Argentine president who came into power in 1983 following the military government. Finally, we’ll get to see Evita and her family’s mausoleum.

We’ll move on to explore the centre of Palermo, a place which combines a strong bohemian vibe with avant-garde design. Palermo Hollywood, filled with film studios as well as television and radio production companies, is home to the life and works of Jorge Luis Borges: he grew up and wrote his most famous novels here.

Palermo had a powerful impact on both Borges’ personal life and his literary career. We’ll see Borges 2135 in Palermo Soho, his childhood home, and Honduras 3784 which was home to Evaristo Carriego, the poet whose biography he wrote.

Further into Palermo we’ll explore the Fundación Internacional Jorge Luis Borges, which was founded in 1988 by his widow and literary secretary María Kodama. It contains various items which belonged to Borges as well as an influential cultural program.

The tour will come to a close with a half-hour visit to the Museo de Evita, where you’ll get the chance to learn more about the life and work of one of Argentina’s most iconic women.

At around 6pm, we’ll take you back to central Buenos Aires.

This is the perfect tour for those who wish to learn more about an important time in Argentine history and see some of Buenos Aires’ best sites.

Amazing Evita Peron Tour
19/03/2020
Reviews

As the only individual on this tour, Elba treated this as if she had a group. During the two hour presentation, she constantly shared information and responded to all of my questions. I appreciated that she expanded upon the history of Recoleta cemetery and at the museum, the impact Eva Peron's actions have on Argentinian society today. I appreciated her willingness to give me a moment to buy postcards to allow me to remember my excursion.

EVITA AND BORGES TOUR IN BUENOS AIRES

Reviews

We, me and my wife, were very interested in learning about argentinean cultural history. And this tour was the perfect fit: Evita was one of the main characters we wanted to know about, and Borges we didn´t know about him but it was really interesting too. Not only we got to know about two important argentinean culture figures, but also we were taught a lot about the city of Buenos Aires and Argentina throughout the excursion. THANK YOU!!!
