Our Penguins at Punta Tombo tour takes you to see the most important penguin colony in Latin America. You’ll also have the chance to see some dolphins in their natural habitat.
The tour gets going between 7:15 and 7:30am, at which time we’ll pick you up directly from your hotel.
We’ll make our first stop at Unión beach in Puerto de Rawson at around 9am. Here, you’ll have the chance (optional) to do some dolphin watching and see the smallest dolphin in the world. We’ll sail until we see some of these friendly, playful animals (obviously depending on the creatures themselves), and spend around an hour and a half on the water.
When we get back to shore, you’ll have some free time to grab a bite to eat at Puerto de Rawson, famous for its delicious seafood.
After this, we’ll head on to Punta Tombo: the home of the Magallanes penguins, where we’ll spend around an hour and a half. You’ll have some time to watch how the different animals live on the coast, from seagulls, skuas, giant petrels and cormorants to oystercatchers and steamer ducks. Due to the area’s expanse you’ll also see some typical creatures of the Argentine outback such as guanacos, rheas, maras and foxes.
We’ll then head on to visit the little town of Gaiman to get a feel for the local culture, see some of its beautiful architecture and try their famous Té Gales (Welsh tea).
We’ll wrap our tour up by dropping you back at your hotel in Puerto Madryn for the evening at around 6:30pm.
