Quito, officially San Francisco de Quito, is the capital of the Republic of Ecuador, is the most populated city in the country, capital of the Province of Pichincha and the oldest in South America. It has more than 2.7 million inhabitants according to the latest statistics published by the INEC in 2018. It is also the cantonal or district head of the Metropolitan District of Quito.
