ITINERARY


DAY 1

AM : Upon arrival at the airport of Iquitos, we are going to a 5-star hotel, to receive a short brief about the incredible journey that we will experience on board the La Perla cruise ship. Later, our transport will take us to Nauta, with a prior and short visit to the town.

After boarding and settling in, the ship will sail towards the Amazon River, while we will have a meeting with the guide to introduce ourselves to the world of Peruvian Amazon. We will enjoy an exquisite welcome lunch.

 

** HIGH WATER SEASON - FROM DECEMBER TO MAY **

PM : We will go on a boat excursion to the Yanayacu de Yacapana Communal Reserve to admire the amazing flora and fauna of the place. At sunset, we will look for animals such as alligators, bats, tarantulas and frogs. We will return to the cruise, and have dinner.

** LOW WATER SEASON - FROM JUNE TO NOVEMBER **

PM : We will go on a boat excursion to the San Joaquín de Omaguas area to admire the ample flora and fauna of the place. At sunset, we will look for animals such as alligators, bats, tarantulas and frogs. We will return to the cruise, and have dinner.

 

DAY 2

** HIGH WATER SEASON - FROM DECEMBER TO MAY **

AM: We will leave at sunrise, one more time, towards Yanayacu de Yacapana Communal Reserve. We will have the opportunity to see local birds like parrots and macaws. Also, we will be able to see sloth bears, iguanas and monkeys. We will return to the cruise, and have breakfast.

We are going to leave the cruise again to visit the Yarapa River by boat, and to visit the native community of Vista Alegre and its butterfly farm. Upon returning to the ship, we will enjoy a lunch.

PM : We will sail by boat on the Nauta Caño river to fish piranhas. We will return to the cruise, and have an excellent dinner. If you wish, we can do a night excursion, to search more animals.

 

** LOW WATER SEASON - FROM JUNE TO NOVEMBER **

AM : After breakfast, we will go to the river Yarapa, and we will look fo pink and gray dolphins. We will return to the cruise to have lunch, and rest while the guide explains us about the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.

PM : We will enjoy a walk in the area of Yucurichi, looking for representative flora and fauna of the place. Back on the cruise, we will have dinner and then, we can enjoy a night safari to continue looking for exotic animals.


DAY 3

** HIGH WATER SEASON - FROM DECEMBER TO MAY **

AM : We will start the day very early in the morning by boat, towards the Marayali stream, a privileged area to observe endemic species. We will have breakfast back on the cruise, and we will return to the boat for an excursion to Pahuachiro, another place with Amazonian biodiversity. We will have lunch and rest.

PM . We will walk through jungle trails, in the Casual sector. We will admire exotic species and giant trees. We will have the opportunity to see the spectacular colors that the sunset gives to us. We will return to the cruise, and have dinner listening to live music.


** LOW WATER SEASON - FROM JUNE TO NOVEMBER **

AM : Before breakfast, we will go out on the boat towards the crossing of the Ucayali and Marañón rivers, a perfect place to practice fishing of piranhas. We will return to the cruise for breakfast, and then, we will do another excursion to the native community of Vista Alegre, and its beautiful butterfly farm. We will return to the ship for lunch.

PM : We will enjoy a fantastic walk through the Casual trail, with unique species and huge trees. We will visit the Craft market where you can buy local crafts (optional). We are going to enjoy the beautiful sunset. We will have dinner on board.

 

DAY 4

AM : After breakfast, we will disembark at the port of Nauta. On the way to the airport of Iquitos, we are going to visit CREA (Amazon Rescue Center), a place that houses animals that have been saved from hunters, to rehabilitate them and prepare them for reinsertion in its natural habitat.
