We`ll meet at Pier de Santa Luzia where we`ll board a boat to go to Vila do Abraão, on Ilha Grande. There, our guide will tell you a little about the history of the island.
Ilha Grande is part of an important chapter in the history of Brazil. It was from Vila do Abraão that Dom Pedro II went into exile in 1889. A man in love with the Island had 2 farms in the locality, and on one of them he built the Lazareto which was a hospital for lepers and the ingenious Aqueduct that supplied the hospital with water. . Lazareto later became a quarantine point and later a prison.
The tour of Vila do Abraão is done on foot and accompanied by a guide, and the ruins of Lazareto, located in Praia Preta and Aqueduto are accessible via a light trail
