DAY 1: USHUAIA- HARBERTON - PENGUIN COLONY - GABLE ISLAND
This tour starts with the pick up from Ushuaia downtown hotels at 08 am, to travel east on National Route No 3. At 10:15 am we will reach the coast of the Lashifashaj River, where we will be given a technical talk and prepare to board the canoes. We will cross the river to reach the Beagle Channel, being able to observe on our way, a typical steppe landscape with "flag" trees. We continue downstream, towards the sea, which will give us the opportunity to see native wildlife: variety of seabirds and, occasionally, sea lions. Around 12:15 pm we arrive at the Harberton Ranch, where we will embark another boat to travel to the penguin colony at Martillo Island and to Gable Island. The strategic position of the boat on the beach allows you to spot the penguins entering and leaving the water or while grooming. After approximately twenty minutes of sighting, navigation continues to the main attraction of the day: the huge Gable Island, where lunch, served at 13.45 pm, is cooked in the moment paired with fine Patagonian wine, in a privileged rustic refuge with an unbeatable view of the Guaraní Pass. At 3 pm, we begin a pleasant walking tour of the Gable island . On the way you will see the tracks left by the Yámana, the first settlers and the beavers, you will continue exploring its beaches and forests, looking for the most impressive landscapes of the Beagle Channel. The walk ends at 6 pm, but those who wish can take part in optional walks.
Once back in the shelter, at 9:00 pm, dinner is served and the fireplace is lightened to spend a comfortable night there
DAY 2: CORDILLERA DE LOS ANDES - TOLHUIN
After breakfast is served at 08:00 am, we embark a boat to cross the Beagle Channel back to the Harberton Ranch, where we arrive at 09:30 am. From there, we head towards the Cordillera Fueguina by car. After an hour of travel and near the Garibaldi Pass, we begin a hike that seeks to reach the top of this mountain range.
Once over 600 meters high, the forest is left behind and the trail disappears: the trekking continues along the mountainside in search of unbeatable views of Lake Escondido and Fagnano. At 1:45 pm we arrive at the lagoons "Gemelas" and "Raquel", where we will have a stop for lunch. Then we continue our trekking to Laguna de los Perros, where we arrive at 3 pm. The trekking ends around 4:30 pm after descending the north slope of the mountain, crossing a thick forest only interrupted by huge beaver dams. Tonight you will spend in a shelter in Tolhuin, a small village on the shores of Lake Fagnano. Dinner will be served at 9:00 pm.
DAY 3: HEART OF THE ISLAND - CERRO CABRAS
After breakfast, at 9 o`clock, Tolhuin is left behind and we travel north, to arrive at Lake Yehuin, located inside the Provincial Reserve Heart of the Island, where we will arrive after a 2 hours drive.. The tour into the Park also give us the opportunity to observe native wildlife: a variety of birds, foxes and guanacos. At 11:30 am we begin the climb up to Cerro Cabras, on an intense 4 hour trek up a steep path that crosses a forest that changes as you go through it. We will reach a scenic viewpoint, at 2 pm, where you can enjoy a magnificent view. Lunch is served at the top of the hill. After the descent, we return to the vehicles, around 5 pm, to enjoy a snack before returning to Ushuaia towards the end of the afternoon.
