IBERA
The Iberá reserve is an extraordinary natural paradise.
Its 1.300.000 hectares comprise the largest protected area in Argentina.
It is considered unique around the world due to its biological characteristics: a huge reserve of unspoilt and clean water and shelter of hundreds of endangered birds and various animals.
The Iberá Wetlands are home to 4 species which have been declared natural monuments: Barbatula Barbatula, Marsh Deer, Maned Wolf and Pampas Deer. Moreover, 60 types of reptiles can be found amongst which the most characteristic ones are the Black Cayman and the Broad-snouted Cayman.
Its ornithological richness is represented by 350 bird species (SEE LIST). The Iberá Wetlands also give life to 125 fish species, 40 classes of amphibian as well as 60 types of mammals: the Capybara stands out as the largest rodent in the world and the Marsh Deer as the largest deer in South America.
The Iberá Lagoon is the epicentre of the Reserve, and in Ñandé Retá we offer the best excursions for sighting of all species
