Between the mountains and rivers, is one of the most unknown landscapes of our national territory. These are five extinct volcanoes. According to the latest studies carried out by researchers from the National University of Córdoba, the entire region used to be a large volcanic caldera, that is, although they are known as volcanoes, they are actually domes.
The main formation is the Ciénega, 1,300 meters high and conical in shape; the Poca hill, 1600 meters high, hidden between the so-called Blue hills; and the Yerba Buena, which with its 1,760 meters above sea level, is the highest point of the Sierras de Pocho.
The Pocho volcanoes are surrounded of the
Caranday palm trees, generating a scenery that looks like that of some exotic place, despite being completely native to
Córdoba.
