ITINERARY


DAY 1

Arriving in the city of Iquitos, we will take you to a 5-star hotel, to have a short briefing about the fantastic week that we are going to experience on board the La Perla Cruise. On the way to Nauta, we will make a short city tour of Iquitos.

Arriving at Nauta, we will board the cruise and settle into the suites. We will sail towards the Amazon River, while the guide introduces us to the beauty of the Peruvian jungle. We will enjoy a delicious lunch.


** HIGH WATER SEASON - FROM DECEMBER TO MAY **

PM: The first excursion starts to the Yanayacu de Yacapana Communal Reserve, to admire beautiful local fauna and flora. At sunset, we will search for nocturnal animals such as alligators, bats, tarantulas, etc. Returning to the cruise, delight yourself with a dinner.


** LOW WATER SEASON - FROM JUNE TO NOVEMBER **

PM: We will go out to explore the San Jose de Omaguas area, to discover incredible flora and fauna. At sunset, we are going in search of nocturnal animals such as frogs, tarantulas, bats, etc. Then, enjoy an excellent dinner on the cruise.


DAY 2

Very early in the morning, we will leave the cruise to see Amazonian birds such as parrots and macaws. We can also see sloth bears, iguanas and monkeys. We will return to the cruise to enjoy a buffet breakfast.


 ** HIGH WATER SEASON - FROM DECEMBER TO MAY **

AM: We will go to the Yarapa River, arriving at the Vista Alegre town. You will have the opportunity to meet local people, and visit a butterfly farm. We will return to La Perla, and have lunch.

PM: In the afternoon, we will sail by boat on the Nauta Caño River, the perfect place for piranha fishing. Upon returning to the ship, we will relax listening to live music, and have dinner. We will leave the boat again, to do a night tour in search of animals.


 ** LOW WATER SEASON - FROM JUNE TO NOVEMBER **

AM: We will go to the Yarapa River, with the opportunity to see pink and gray dolphins. We return to the ship to have lunch, and rest.

PM: We will start a walk through the Yucurichi area, where the wild fauna and flora will surprise us. Back to the cruise to enjoy live music and dinner. Then, we can do a night safari to see more animals.


DAY 3

** HIGH WATER SEASON - FROM DECEMBER TO MAY **

AM: We will have an excursion before breakfast, visiting the Marayali stream, a privileged area to observe various endemic species. Back on board we will have breakfast, and then, we will have a walk to Pahuachiro, to appreciate the Amazonian biodiversity. Later, enjoy lunch.

PM: We will walk along trails in the middle of the jungle, through the Casual sector, with giant trees and exotic species. We will see the wonderful sunset, and when we return to the cruise, we will have dinner.


 ** LOW WATER SEASON - FROM JUNE TO NOVEMBER **

AM: We will go out at sunrise to spot species, as well as to fish for piranhas. After breakfast, we will visit the Vista Alegre town, and we will meet the local people and their butterfly farm. Walking through the mountains to see the largest aquatic plants on the planet "Amazonian Victories". We will have lunch and free time to rest.

PM: Our next adventure will be a walk tour through trails in the middle of the jungle, along the Casual section, with exotic species and huge trees to admire. We will visit a local native market, with the opportunity to purchase local crafts. We will enjoy an incredible and colorful sunset, and then, back to the cruise and enjoy a delicious dinner with live music.


DAY 4

After breakfast on board, the day starts with a visit to the city of Nauta by tuk tuk. We will arrive at the local market, visiting typical food stalls, handicrafts, aphrodisiac drinks, etc. We will go to the Paiche hatchery in the Sapi Sapi lagoon, the second largest freshwater fish in the world.

We are going back to the cruise for lunch, and take a well-deserved rest. In the afternoon, we will go towards Nauta Caño, to the "Forest of mirrors", a place that is home to birds, monkeys, iguanas and sloth bears.

We will have a night safari to look for more animals, in addition to admiring the spectacular jungle starry sky. We will enjoy dinner on board La Perla.


DAY 5

We will start the day with a picnic breakfast on the Yanayacu de Pucate River, a highly protected area within the reserve. You will have the opportunity to do kayak, swim in the river and see pink dolphins. We will have lunch at La Perla, and then, we will go out again for another incredible adventure.

Walking through the jungle, we are going to reach the hanging bridges area, where we can observe the beauty of the jungle from above.

Afterwards, we will visit the shaman of San Regis who will share with us his ancestral rituals, medicinal plants, as well as the Amazonian worldview. We will have the best experience planting a tree.

On the cruise, we will relax listening to live music and having dinner.


DAY 6

After enjoy breakfast, the tour begins to the Shiriyacu stream, to fish piranhas with artisanal equipment. We will return to the ship to rest.

After lunch, we will go to Puerto Prado, where the native community of Kukama Prado lives. They will prepare typical dishes of the area for us to taste, and we will visit their artisan market. We will walk through the mountains to see the largest aquatic plants in the world.

We will appreciate the sunset from La Perla, to take a well-deserved rest. In the evening, we will have a farewell dinner.


DAY 7

We will enjoy our last breakfast on board, and then arrive at Nauta to disembark. On the way to the city of Iquitos, we will make a brief stop at the Amazon Rescue Center (CREA), where we will see rescued animals such as manatees. We will arrive at the airport to end this incredible journey.
