ITINERARY


DAY 1:


AM: Arrival in Iquitos City: Our crew will be waiting for you at the airport to transfer you in our comfortable, and private transport. We will travel by paved road towards the city of Nauta, about 95 km. away, where we will embark on the Delfin I. 


Once on board, our qualified staff will receive and assist you to your comfortable and cozy suites, duly equipped and with all the comforts. While Delfin I starts sailing, you can enjoy the most fantastic Panoramic view from the elegantly equipped observation area. Our Bartender will be waiting to serve you an exotic appetizer made with fruits of the region and our beloved pisco, which is the national flag liquor of Peru. 


Then your naturalist guide will give you a general explanation of the schedules of the crossing, activities, routes, wildlife and vegetation to be at both, as well as the geographical and historical environment and other important details. Dinner and overnight.


During the *Rain Season*, additionally the following visits are made in the afternoon:


PM: Pauhuachiro: Our first excursion it will be by boat and we will visit our first destination that is populated with sloths, iguanas and anteaters. Bird watchers will be pleased to see magnificent birds such as the Talking Paucar and the Elegant Royal Herons. 


After dinner, we will have a night excursion to Nauta Caño stream, where we will navigate along the riverbank to search alligators, insects and spiders.




DAY 2: 


** DRY SEASON **

AM: Fundo Casual: This morning we recommend to get up early to appreciate the wildlife. It`s always good to get up early in the jungle, since most animals are more active with the sunrise. 


This is the most important area of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve; the walk in the Casual Fundo will take you along trails in the rainforest where you can find several animal species which you can interact.



PM: Amazon Village: we will visit a very friendly Amazonian community, which will show us their rice crops, and we will see his life style. We will return to the cruise, and at night we will go to a night excursion to look for birds and alligators.



** RAIN SEASON **

AM: Las Palmas: After get up very early, and admire the beautiful jungle, we will embark the boats to Las Palmas, place with a great diversity of birds and sloths. We will eat buffet breakfast on the cruise, and visit Yanayacu Pucate. You will browse along the Yanayacu and Pucate rivers, appreciating different springs and lakes. 


It is one of the best preserved and protected areas of the National Reserve of Pacaya Samiria. Your guide will be attentive to accurately identify the biodiversity of the area and if time permits, you will also have the opportunity to swim in the river next to the famous pink dolphins!



PM: After lunch, we will visit the Amazon Natural Park, an incredible walk in the middle of exotic and mysterious Peruvian jungle, where we will learn a lot about medicinal plants that this fantastic land gives to us. 


After a delicious tea time, you will return to the boat for dinner, and at night we will have an excursion for a ceremony with a shaman, healer and spiritual guide in the small village of Yachay. We will return to the cruise, and spend the night.




DAY 3: 


** DRY SEASON **

AM: Amazon Natural Park: This morning starts with an adventure trip to visit a private reserve with 8 suspension bridges, in the place where the canopy circuits are made. For get there, they will have to walk through the forest, and paddle board in the tranquility of Lake Tahuampa, a dark water lake in which some live giant fish called Araipama and locally known as Paiches. 


With a little luck you can hear them jump and breathe morning air. On the bridges they will be able to observe wildlife from the height of treetops, a totally different perspective.



PM: In the afternoon, we will continue the excursion by boat across the Yanayacu and Pucate rivers, one of the best preserved areas from the Pacaya Samiria reserve. If you wish, you can swim in the river or take a kayak and / or paddle board, and take a ride around the Amazon. We will return to the cruise, and have a nice farewell dinner.



** SEASON OF RAIN **

AM: In the morning, we will start the tour by boat to visit Yanaquillo. We will take our breakfast as a picnic, and we can fish piranhas. It is a good opportunity to see pink dolphins around. We will return to the cruise, and then we will have lunch.



PM: This afternoon we will go out to Caño Piraña, for a boat trip on the Marañon River. We can visualize playful monkeys and diverse birds. You can go kayaking or skiffing, and live a unique adventure in the jungle. 


We will return to the cruise, and have dinner. At night, We will hike through Puerto Prado to see frogs, insects of all types and sizes, and we will do a safari to look for alligators.




DAY 4: 


After breakfast on board, we will arrive to the port from Nauta, where the land crew will wait for you and will travel in our comfortable private vans about 95 kilometers to the city of Iquitos. 


Along the way, we will visit the Rescue and Rehabilitation Center of river mammals (ACOBIA). In this place, you will visit baby manatees, in addition of other animal species.


At the end of the visit, we will transfer you to the airport in time to take your next flight.

* The itineraries are subject to weather and river conditions.
* Dry season: June-October/Rainy season: November-May
* Malaria and Yellow Fever vaccines for travelers visiting the region are not necessarily required but they are highly recommended.
* We highly recommend that passengers take out trip cancellation insurance, which would reimburse the cost of airline tickets and non-refundable cruise payments.
* Inform the food requirements at least 30 days before the shipment date.
* We highly recommend the use of soft or flexible and light suitcases that can be folded and stored in the cabin closet to make your stay more comfortable while cruising.
* When visiting the River Mammal Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, it is optional to leave a donation for this organization and study center.
* There is no WIFI signal on cruise ships.
* Children over 7 years old are allowed
WHAT TO BRING?

* Clothing: light and fresh, blouses, long-sleeved shirts, bathing suits, shoes with a soft rubber sole for the boat (rubber boots and rain pilots are provided by us), wind-resistant jackets. The days are hot and humid while the evening breeze is cool.
* Insects and Mosquitoes: We recommend taking Vitamin B or B-15 a few days before arriving in the jungle. These vitamins are the best repellants against insect bites. Also, do not forget to bring conventional repellent and cream for the bites.
* Other items: We suggest bringing sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, binoculars (very important to enjoy the fauna and flora), camera and extra batteries

If you are visiting Iquitos for some days, consider the cruise Amazon Cruise - Delfin I - 3 Nights. We had a really great time!
