Day 1: Reception and Welcome
We will welcome you at the Terminal or Airport of La Rioja and we will take you to the selected accommodation. The rest of the day is free, you can enjoy the surroundings.
Day 2: Riojana Coast and San Blas de los Sauces
At 8:00 am, we will pick you up at your hotel to head towards the residential area of the capital of La Rioja. Then, we will go in our vehicle visiting the most prominent tourist points such as the Quebrada, the Dique de los Sauces, Villa Sanagasta, the Cuesta de Huaco with stops to closely observe the beautiful landscape and the panoramic views.
Later, we will continue to see the picturesque town on the Costa del Velasco: Agua Blanca, las Peñas, Chuquis, Pinchas, Aminga, Anillaco. We will continue towards the vineyard producers, where we find wineries where artisanal wines are made. Thus, we continue traveling through Aimogasta, an important Olivo producer, and we will skirt the northern tip of Velasco to arrive at Los Sauces. We will visit Pucara de Hualco and its Quebrada, formerly a pre-Columbian fortress.
We continue our journey to Chañarmuyo, and to the Finca de la Posada-Boutique Hotel del Vino. We will stop to walk through the vineyards and taste excellent wines. We will stay tonight at the Chañarmuyo Wine hotel or at Famatina Finca Huayrapuca.
Day 3: Chañarmuyo
We will leave for Paimán Winery; immersed in the middle of an oasis in the Sierra del Paimán at 1,720 meters above sea level, in the town of Famatina. This magical place due to its vineyards and its winery, offers us a joy among aromas and landscapes. Then, we will approach another of the wonders of La Rioja, the Chañarmuyo Dam, which amazes with its mirror view and reservoir.
We continue advancing in our vehicle, to admire the archaeological point "La Parrilla", where we will stop to see the petroglyphs, vestiges of mining exploitation and then we will go to the Historical Monument, the Church of Bells, and the Natural Monument, Cerro Las Campanitas, formed by stones that emit metallic sounds with more than 200 years old in Santo Domingo. The rest of the day is free. Accommodation in Famatina.
Day 4: Chilecito and Cuesta Miranda
In the morning we will go to the eastern slope of Cerro Famatina, visiting the Fincas Nogaleras, the Church of Famatina and the Venerable Christ from Peru.
We will witness the production of walnuts at Finca Huarapuca. After that, in Chilecito we will find one of the largest Bodegas de La Rioja "Cooperativa La Riojana", we will be able to taste the delicious wine white Torrontés Riojano, which led to the creation of famous wines such as the Torrontés del Valle de Cafayate in Salta.
Afterwards, we will go to see the sculpture of the Cristo del Portezuelo, we will walk through the important Museo y Finca Samay Huasi de Joaquín V. González, continuing towards Cable Carril la Mejicana, there we will stop to see station 1 and 2, the Mining Museum, Santa Florentina, the striking Río del Oro and its union with the Río del Agua Negra.
In the afternoon, we will go to Famatina, passing through the Cuesta de Miranda, here we can find fascinating panoramic views at about 2,045 amsl, and we will descend through the western Faldeo to Villa Unión. We will return to the selected hotel in Famatina with breakfast included.
Day 5: Talampaya
From your hotel in Villa Unión, we go to the incredible Talampaya National Park. Upon arrival at the Park, you can do the 1 Talampaya Canyon circuit, this excursion lasts approximately 3 hours. You enter the bed of the Talampaya River, observing the high walls of the grand canyon. The vegetation, the petroglyphs, and the fauna are part of the attractions that we will appreciate, as well as the geoforms known as The Faces, The Sentinel, the Magician King, the Gothic Cathedral, the Condor, the Tower, and the Monk. In the afternoon, we will take you back to your hotel in Villa Unión.
Day 6: Valley of the Moon
After picking you up at your accommodation, we will go to the Valle de la Luna excursion for approximately 3 hours. 5 stops are made to admire the geoforms, the Painted Valley, the Bochas Court, the Submarine, the Site Museum, the Mushroom, the Red Canyon. In the afternoon, we will return to the City of La Rioja through the Tower and the Chiflón, there we will stay at our selected hotel in La Rioja with breakfast included.
Day 7: Farewell
After breakfast, we will pick you up at your accommodation and take you to the Terminal or Airport of La Rioja.
