DAY 1 Estancia Nibepo - Puesto Cachorro - Puesto Laguna 3 de Abril:
From 8:30 am we`ll pick you up at your hotel in downtown El Calafate, from there we`ll go to the Ranch and arrive around 9:45. Then, we`ll start our great adventure horseback riding towards the Cerro los Cristales.
As we keep moving forward into the woods, surrounded by native flora and trees, we`ll see amazing lake landscapes, Brazo Rico and Sur, Roca lake, and Cerro Frías, from there, we`ll see the outstanding Andean Forest. Once we`ll come through the forest, we`ll observe the Rio Cachorro Valley where we`ll find "notros" Chilean firebush and "calafates", unique Patagonian flora.
Then, we`ll come down the hill `till we reach the river side, where we`ll start to see the Frias Glacier and the peak of a mountain "Aguja de granito del Dedo del Cesar" as well. We`ll ride through paths full of rocks and pasture `till we get to the farmyard of Cachorro River where we`ll have our fist stop to have lunch, a spectacular country meal.
After that, we`ll keep on with our journey towards the Laguna 3 de Abril spot, there we`ll be able to see an exclusive fauna of this magical place; a habitat of flamingos and blacknecked swans, Cauquén (upland goose) and steamer ducks, are the main roles of this incredible lagoon. We`ll get to the Laguna 3 de Abril shelter where we`ll rest, enjoy the beautiful surrounding, and a delicious dinner cooked with a wood fire and brick clay stove. We`ll try the famous Mate drink and hear the countryside tales, so then we can go to sleep.
DAY 2 Brazo Sur del Lago Argentino:
Starting our day, we`ll set out on our way back, riding along the shore of the Brazo Sur `till we reach the Estancia 18km far from the shelter. There we`ll have an appetizing lunch of patagonian lamb barbecue, then we`ll go back to downtown Calafate with the transfer at 14:15.
