Our tour begins with the pick-up starting at 08:30 a.m. for the central hotels located in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca. From here, we will pass and visit the Fair Grounds of the province where theNational Poncho Festival takes place. Here we will be approximately 10 minutes , to then continue with the walk and view the Monument of Felipe Varela, located at the beginning of Provincial Route N°1.
We continue with the journey towards the Cuesta del Portezuelo and on the way, we are going to visit the Aborigine Plaza, where there are figures that allude to them. After traveling about 18 kilometers from the city, we will begin to ascend the Cuesta de Portezuelo, a winding road that has an extension of 20 km, with more than 300 curves on its route, which will allow us to observe the incredible landscapes green found there. Here, we will go up to the first viewpoint located at 1070 meters above sea level, where you will have free time to take photos.
We will begin the descent, and once we are at the base, we will pay a visit to the Zamba Landscape Museum and Monument of Catamarca. Once finished, we will continue with the excursion until we reach the Birthplace of the Esquiú family, considered a National Historical Monument since 1935 because inside it they conserve furniture and objects belonging to Fray M. Esquiúsuch as the bed, the armchair and other fabric work elements used by those who lived in said house. A shrine was built to protect the house that is inside since one of the materials used for construction is adobe. Here, we will have around 30 minutes to take an internal tour with the local guide.
Another of our points to visit is the Lord of Miracles Church which is directly related to the friar named above because it was in thatplace where he was baptized. In this place, we will spend about 15 minutes to take photos, enter its facilities or appreciate the landscape.
Finally, we will continue with the route until we reach the < b>Las Pirquitas Dam, the largest reservoir in the province and which is characterized by being built with different materials than the other reservoirs. We will go down for approximately 20 minutes to enjoy the incredible view that this space offers us.
After 4 hours, we will return to the city center to drop you off at your central hotel.
