Details of Day Tours

After picking you up from your hotel, we`ll head by bus to the city center to listen to an expert guide share the history of Salta. Founded in the 16th century by the Spanish visionary Hernando de Lerma, Salta became a very successful commercial center. See evidence of Salta`s heyday in the gold-plated cathedrals and mansions as the vehicle tours the city. Today, the city of Salta is known for its beautiful and well-preserved colonial architecture.

When you reach the central plaza, contemplate the grandiose Salta Cathedral, with two towers, built in 1885, and learn about the national hero General Güemes, whose remains rest in the cathedral; Güemes fought against the Spanish during Argentina`s war of independence.

Passing through the Cultural Center of the Americas, observe the Spanish colonial architecture of the viceroyalty of Historical Museum of the North, located in the old town hall or town hall.

Admire theSan Francisco Church, perfect for postcards, with imposing pillars whites that support a crimson facade. Its purple bell tower measures 174 feet (53 meters) high, and the bell it supports was built from the cannons used during the Battle of Salta.

The tour continues through the convent of San Bernardo from the 16th century, one of the oldest buildings in the city, and the monument to General Güemes.

Leaving the city center towards the bordering limits Jump, we will reach Cerro San Bernardo, from where you can admire the panoramic views of the city and the Andean peaks.

See the monument of the Battle of Salta and the February 20 Park, built in commemoration of the battle that was fought and won here during the war for independence.

You will visit the nearby town of San Lorenzo, frequented by families from Salta during the summer due to its unusual subtropical microclimate.

Returning to Salta, the last stop will be at the Crafts Market , located inside a traditional white colonial building, to examine the offerings of artisans who travel from all over the province to sell their products here. Eat alfajores (caramel-filled cookies) and candied nuts, or shop for unique purses, blankets, and jewelry (snacks and shopping on your own).

The tour ends with the return to your hotel.
